Arsenal won the F.A.Cup

Supporting a football team has many ups and downs.

For most people there are a lot more downs than ups but I am fortunate enough to have chosen Arsenal and we have had quite a few ups over the years.

In 2014 Arsenal have won the F.A.Cup after being 2-0 down. We came back from the dead to win 3-2.

In 1971 I had the best high of my young life when Charlie George (my hero at the time) scored the winner.

This year it was pleasing to see the team working together to get the win. A Santi Cazorla free kick, a typically important equaliser from my current hero Laurent Koscielny, then a brilliantly worked goal involving a backheel from the seriously under rated Olivier Giroud, and a first time shot from the resurgent Aaron Ramsey who had his leg broken when the football pundits all agreed that the only way to beat Arsenal was to "get in amongst them (kick the players)". I hope those pundits receive their just desserts but it resulted in at least two broken legs. 2014 is small reward but at least it has proven that skill CAN beat violence and intimidation.

Arsene Wenger deserves a lot of credit for introducing skill to English football. There is still a long way to go as is clear when you watch league two football, and when I watch lower league stuff it is usually the bigger and stronger players that come out on top. Skill is not protected enough by referees in my opinion. Maybe it is my personal experience of being kicked off the park and then having to become a hacker in order to get a place in the team that colours my opinion, but at least I quit the game early enough not to have suffered permanent knee damage.

Did I mention that Arsenal won the F.A.Cup?

We won the cup.
We won the cup.
E. I. Adio.
We won the cup.

This summer is going to be a good one. I haven't had one of those for a while.

Bank Holiday sunshine

Nice day.

Elmore lost 5-3 yesterday but an eight goal thriller is not a bad afternoon's entertainment.

Today I shall be watching Arsenal and trying to track the Exeter Chiefs and the Conference play-offs.

It's a tough life.

DONT FORGET SYRIA. They still have insufficient oil to warrant a peacekeeping force.

Elmore Eagles

Today I are be mostly watching Elmore.

I intend to indulge myself and visit the team that play at Level 10 in the Football Pyramid.

They are rubbish. I have taken the wife to watch two 3-0 defeats and last week they lost 4-0 at home.

It is vital that I leave my emotions out of the situation and simply watch the football dispassionately.

Over this weekend I may pop in to watch some cycle speedway at a local track. Something new!

It's bank holiday. Spring weather is improving. Do something special.

Busy Life

Life is busy.

That is good.

No time to blog.

Busy drilling and screwing at the daughter's new place.
